Sunripe Malta

We were pleased to have visited the small family run food and wine business of Sunripe Malta last week in the village of Mgarr on the beautiful Mediterranean Island of Malta where we were given a tour of their new premises by Olivia who is one of the owners.
Sunripe has been given grants by the EU to help set up their state of the art visitors centre which promotes artisan produced foods with Sunripe only selling typical Maltese produce all made by small food and wine businesses in the rural village of Mgarr and the surrounding area.Their range of products includes fine Maltese extra virgin olive oil, sun ripened tomatoes, pesto, honey, jams as well as many other typical Maltese foods, also a local Liqueur and wines from Mgarr.
All the produce that Sunripe sells is guaranteed fresh, has been hand picked locally in the Mgarr area, is free of preservatives and are certified by the Malta Crafts council.

Sunripe offer a wide range of services to clients and customers including tastings and workshops at the visitors centre, the chance to learn more about the Maltese farming movement and the ways that Maltese agriculture has adapted to deal with the particular problems that the hot and dry climate and harsh landscape of the Islands.
At present the business is not certified as organic but the produce available from Sunripe does offer all the benefits that organically produced foods offer the public, as well as a chance to try very specific local specialities such as wild Carob syrup and peach wedges in syrup!
This part of Malta also offers visitors the chance to visit two world heritage sites, the local megalithic temples dated back thousands of years, historic sites from the time of the Knights of St John as well as the wonderful beaches and coastline at Gwajn Tuffieha and Gnejna.
